About Me
My journey
My interest in working with adult children of narcissistic parents comes from both professional training and personal experience. I understand the deep, often hidden impact this kind of upbringing can have and how powerful it is to begin untangling those patterns in a safe, supportive setting.
Over time, I’ve worked with many clients who have experienced the painful effects of narcissistic relationships and it remains close to my heart.
My experience
I have counselled children, young people and adults in national mental health organisations dealing with an extensive range of problems in a time limited capacity. These include anxiety, depression, OCD, self-harm, relationship issues, low self-esteem and loss. I also have vast experience supporting autistic clients. Please note, I only counsel adults over the age of 18.
I am a qualified life coach and offer counselling and coaching services combined for those who are interested in receiving help with achieving goals or overcoming barriers to success.
I have knowledge and experience counselling in surrogacy. I offer one to one therapy for IP’s (intended parents), surrogates and support workers coping with the unique challenges these journeys may bring. I have also provided supervision to staff members in a surrogacy organisation.
I have a post graduate diploma in trauma therapy supporting clients within this complex field. You may be suffering bodily symptoms as a result of trauma and we work together to make sense of them through therapies such as body psychotherapy (no touch). I am currently training in EMDR (Eye movement & desensitisation reprocessing) to further my skills in trauma therapy and will become an EMDR specialist in June 2026.
I’ve completed an intensive eating disorder course to further enhance the level of interventions I can offer clients. Please note, I do not provide counselling for clients in eating disorders.
I’ve studied Transactional Analysis (TA) at a foundation year level. This approach is incredibly helpful for uncovering unconscious processes and understanding relationships on a deeper level. Using TA, I can help you explore relationships that may have been or are difficult and stressful to navigate through. I offer therapeutic support to one partner that is part of a couple or family to understand their belief systems and how they can grow effectively as a unit. I am sorry but I do not counsel couples.
I am a fully qualified supervisor and offer supervision to trainee counsellors and qualified therapists.
I have achieved accreditation through the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
Testimonials
"The realisation that my mum is a covert narcissist was all at once liberating and devastating. Through our counselling sessions Jayne has provided a safe and empathetic space to enable me to process this information and to navigate the next steps.
After a lifetime of setting myself impossible standards, extreme self criticism and never putting myself first, to be able to accept who I am and to work out what I want feels amazing.
I can’t recommend Jayne enough, this counselling has been life changing in the best possible way."
"Jayne offered a supportive and empathetic space for me to discuss my intrusive thoughts/worries, and helped me to consider why I struggled with excessive rumination.
Through different approaches and reflecting on my upbringing and familial relationships, Jayne helped me to find my own voice after years of fear of judgement from others and people pleasing.
Thank you for helping me when I needed it the most!"
"Jayne is an exceptional counsellor, fully understanding the situation and when a rant is needed, and when it needs to be more guided and structured. Always good at asking pertinent questions, whilst also helping to reflect on the journey.
The models and techniques she equipped me with; I'm still using today to help me navigate day to day life more effectively."
"I’m so thankful to have found Jayne during a very turbulent time.
I came to Jayne struggling with a romantic relationship, but as we worked together, I began to realise that trauma from my childhood was affecting all areas of my life. Over the past few years, with her expert guidance, support, and kindness, I’ve worked through these issues and grown stronger as a person. I now feel able to navigate life with positivity, strength, and mindfulness.
My life has improved tenfold thanks to the time I’ve spent with Jayne, and I would highly recommend her as a therapist."
"I cannot rate Jayne highly enough as a supervisor. As a trainee counsellor, Jayne understands me and my self doubt and is very encouraging and nurturing as well as proactive in providing resources, intervention suggestions and recommendations for further reading.
She adopts a facilitative approach, developing my reflective practice, providing different perspectives, and helping me towards my learning goals.
Whilst her core modality is CBT she also works integratively which I find informative and inspirational. Jayne is kind and gentle in providing challenge and opens many opportunities for self reflection.
She has been an absolute pillar of support throughout my training and her passion for further learning is infectious."
"I have been receiving supervision for over 3 years with Jayne, and I am very happy and satisfied with the service she provides. Jayne takes the time to get to know you as an individual person in your own right as well as a counselling practitioner. This combination enables Jayne to have a fuller understanding of what might be happening in the counselling dynamic between client and counsellor.
One of Jayne's unique skills are identifying areas of the therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client that may be getting in the way of the client moving forward in their goal to full recovery, ie the transference and countertransference. Jayne will support me in identifying any areas that I can improve on to ensure I am providing an excellent counselling service to all my clients.
Jayne's wealth of knowledge in several counselling modalities allows her to identify the most useful approach to deliver when working with clients depending on what sort of issues they present with. I think for me, the most important quality of a supervisor is being confident to bring absolutely everything to supervision with no fear of judgement or failure. Jayne has this quality in abundance, and she has helped me through some very challenging situations. I learn and grow from every single supervision session I have and for that I am very grateful."
